photography Workshops, September - November 2025
Order/Chaos
Monday 29th September, 7.30pm - 10.00pm. £30/person.
As humans we instinctively try and make order out of chaos, it helps us to make visual sense of the world. Structure and predictability can be bold and arresting but confusion and chance can be fascinating, fun and exciting. From unusual POV’s and environments to exploiting space, scale and light, this workshop will encourage attendees to take risks, experiment and to work outside their usual comfort zone.
The workshop will take a look at Order and Chaos, illustrating how each, used successfully, can create striking photographs. We will look at different techniques, ideas, set-ups in both dynamic and passive environments, plus see how embracing either confusion or control can produce powerful and engaging photography.
Simple tasks will be given during the evenings workshop and an informal Zoom review of participants photographs will follow 4-5 weeks later. If you are unable to attend the review date a recording will be available to view. There will be a maximum of 10 people attending at a cost of £30 per person.

Focus/Blur
Monday 20th October, 7.30pm - 10.00pm. £30/person.
Intentional or accidental lack of sharpness or blur in photography can significantly change how an image is seen. How we choose to focus (or not) can determine the emotion, drama and movement and used correctly can be a great imaginative asset.
Focus/Blur will show you many different camera techniques and ideas, help you to control tone, mood and atmosphere and even create dreamy or ethereal environments. In understanding different exposures, flash, depth of field and controlling deliberate camera movement you will add a new creative tool for your work.

Space/Light
Monday 10th November, 7.30pm - 10.00pm. £30/person.
SPACE and LIGHT in URBAN PHOTOGRAPHY will new look at creative ideas and camera techniques using different set-ups and different qualities of light in contrasting spaces. We will look at how to and what the benefits are of controlling and manipulating them.
From busy to empty spaces, overcast to sunny days, this workshop will cover street and structure in both monochrome and colour, making you comfortable and creative in your work in any lighting condition or environment.
